Been on the go a lot lately. It’s a nice change of pace. Drawing at a desk in a room with no windows is cool most of the time, but I enjoy people and the dirty air too. This weeks Permo: Circa 1942 drawings are nice and sloppy. Unfinished and wiggly. A lot of thoughts passing through the brain. I try to scribble them as quick as I can before the channel changes. Anyways, that is enough dribble drabble. Here are the drawings already!
Permo was put to good use this past week. I have been wandering around a little more than usual this week. Holidays I guess. Permo has been documenting my thoughts. I hate to say it, but I came across a lot of jerks this week. Some of these drawings are sarcastic attempts at dealing with these people. Some sketches are just reoccurring dreams and thoughts. Hope you find these doodle entertaining.
I have been recently looking for another sketch book to carry on the go. I wanted this next one to be cool, unique and old. I have this thing for vintage paper. It’s ideally not the best paper to write on, but I don’t care. I like the smell, the age. It reminds me of the year. I can feel it in the book. It’s crazy I know, but I can’t help myself. There is no reason I should either. I picked this book up from a flea market. It was in a collection with many other items dated late 1930’s to mid 1940’s. I good era! I enjoy writing and drawing on 1950’s stationary. However for some reason the 40’s stand out a little more. The sketch book is approximately 9×12 inches. Originally intended for scrapbooking. It is the most common books I come across on account of the paper being so thick. I found it in amazing condition. Every other page has a perforated end for clipping out to account for bulging when applying photos. This would be awesome except due to age the pages are breaking a little easier around the edges. The spine also cracked the spinal shell off after the first drawing. I decided to use black duct tape to keep it to together. Duct tape fixes everything. It’s not too bad, but a bit cumbersome. At any rate, I love drawing in the past, so here’s what I was able to do this week end:
Here is this weeks update on doodles in the Floral Book Of Much Needed Therapy sketch book. I have only a few more pages left until it’s full. I am thinking about inking the the pencil entries and polishing them for print, but that is another adventure. Just focusing on content for these last few pages:
Thank you for viewing!
Ideally this book was to be only pencils. Then I realized I wanted to ink the pencils separately, then I wanted to add color, but the color didn’t respond well to the paper, then I stared ink sketching with pen to temporarily serve as my “on the go” sketch book. Three quarters filled and it’s turning chaos. However it’s growing into it’s own. Here are 3 recent entries:
I don’t know if I’ll be reporting EVERY month, but I am this month so let’s recap the covers!
JUDGE DEATH! I’ve been wanting the draw this for a while, but never had the fitting opportunity until now. It was fun going through old Judge Dredd comics. I have a few more covers. I may be getting to them soon. Dredd for sure! Been toying around with a Judge Predator cover. What do you think?
Psylocke has changed a bit over the years. I assume this is here, but I can be wrong. I haven’t Actually read this book. I just seen her in the pages.
I forgot exactly where I got this cover from. I’ve had it in the comic box for a while. I recently read it and decided to draw the vileness from the comic on the cover. It’s a pretty cool horror/western.
This cover was not originally intended to be drawn on, but I did a Blade sketch on it.
A buddy of mine has been asking me to do this NOVA cover for a while. I thought is was too weird and silly (well maybe not weird or silly enough) to take seriously, but I’ve been seeing him more lately and he looks bushed! Working all kinds of jobs to make ends and barely getting rest. I thought maybe he would get a kick out of this, while letting him know I didn’t for get.
My buddy….he’s a smoker. I customized it a little more for him.
TMNT is another sketch cover I’ve been waiting for. I don’t even know where to begin with these! I have 4 or 5 more. I started with Bebop. I’m open for suggestions though!!
We’ll that’s it for November/early December. I wish to keep on with these. they are fun and good for a change of insanity. Thanks for looking.
Whew! I’ve been waiting to finish this sketch book. I even thought about just leaving the last 3 pages blank and calling it done. I’m glad I decided to push forward until it was COMPLETELY FULL. What will you do with your stupid life now man (*sarcastic grown up voice)? The answer to that this refine this mu fugger! It seemed to make the few people outside the internet world laugh and smile when I showed it to them, so I think I want to re draw and publish this book in full color. If your not sure what I mean I suppose I’ll just have to show you what I’m talk’n bout soon.
Until then here are some of the last sketches…
The transcribed version:
I remember the beginning. Some people even tried to write a book about it. They said that in the beginning there was “Darkness” You heard me correct…Darkness.
I’ve seen it and let me tell you…the only reason there was darkness was because no one had the guts to open their eyes. The light was always there for all to see. If you ask me, all the darkness talk wasn’t about darkness at all. It was about fear.
The fear to see the truth. Once you open your eyes to the truth it changes you. It compels you to change everything around you…or destroy it.
Next project: Detective Comics…comics
